Transformed energy operations by architecting a real-time data platform using Databricks and AWS for predictive insights.
Energy networks are complex beasts. At Jemena, I had the opportunity to lead the architecture and development of a Centralised Data Hub Platform - a solution that integrated massive data streams to drive smarter energy decisions.
Built on Databricks and AWS, the platform ingested real-time and batch data from systems like SAP HANA, Kafka, GIS, and ADMS, delivering predictive analytics, outage planning, and load-balancing insights. One of the major breakthroughs was applying machine learning for power quality monitoring and dynamic phase-balancing across circuits.
The platform reshaped how the business interacted with its data, introducing real-time alerting, automated reconciliations, and interactive dashboards that empowered multiple departments—from field operations to digital transformation.
For me, this was more than data engineering. It was about helping a critical infrastructure provider modernise and future-proof their network with intelligence at the core
